PUNJAB DIARIES

I decided to visit Amritsar on 15 July 2018,It has been my dream to see Amritsar on the top of the world travelers’ bucket list and I am overwhelmed and excieted to see so many families,  & solo travellers wandering around the city. I have been asked many times about all the things a first-time traveller can do in the city. I have narrowed down the following to create a balance of the amazing things to do, places to see and food items to eat. If you are travelling to the Amritsar for the first time, this one is dedicated to you it includes a balance of travelling and eating as you would be already knowing Amritsar is famous for the food and foodies.

The next morning I freshed up and before going to Golden temple I visited to Jallianwala bagh. It is really a nice place.

The name is attributed to the owners of that land during the early 1900s. In the year 1919 on 13th of April, the British Indian Army headed by Brigadier General Dyer began shooting at the crowd gathered in the garden (or bagh) without any prior warning. In desperate attempts to save themselves, some people jumped into the solitary well and many died at the narrow passages and gates. According to some sources, there were nearly 1526 casualties with over 1650 rounds of firing You will still be able to see the walls that have bullet marks and the “Martyrs Well.”

After that I visited Golden Temple Golden Temple located at Amritsar is the most sacred religious center for Sikhs. The temple is open to people of all faiths and is also revered Hindus and Muslims. The temple gets the ‘Golden’ in its name from the gold plated dome, which can be seen from a distance as you approach this iconic building.

As against the more popular name ‘Golden temple’, the correct name for the temple is ‘Harmandir Sahib’ or ‘Darbar Sahib’. The formation of the temple, as well as its design, is credited to Guru Arjan Sahib while the foundation of the temple was laid down by a Muslim saint Hazrat Mian Mir ji of Lahore.

The Golden Temple is a place of immense exquisiteness and magnificent serenity. The architecture of the temple is based on artistic styles of Hindus and Muslims, yet embodying a unique blend of the two. The holy Sikh scripture Adi Grantha lies on the jewel-studded base within the temple Premises

Muffled across the tranquil lake inside the temple, this intriguingly striking music stimulates a transient yet the influential state of trance in the devotees meandering laid-back around the marble courtyard encompassing the temple and the pool. Right through the day and night, devotees plunge them into the lake. It is a symbol of soul cleansing. Adjacent to the temple are the enormous dining halls and dormitories, where every individual, irrespective of gender, religion or race, are fed and lodged for free of cost. It was really a very nice experience. I will visit once more there I really had a lot of fun. I suggest you all to visit anfd explore that beautiful destination.
